CREDIT UNION MEMBERS RECEIVE $7 MILLION IN SWEET REWARDS
RBFCU Awards Largest Debit Card Cash Back in Program History

LIVE OAK, Texas — South Central Texans looking for love on Valentine's Day are finding it from an unlikely source, their local credit union. The credit union is awarding its members with more than $7 million in cash back based on Freedom Check Card usage.

The rewards were earned by members across South Central Texas a dime at a time. Members received 10 cents cash back on every purchase made with their cards. According to credit union leaders, the program stands out from those offered by other financial institutions, because no fees or charges are attached to the ability to earn cash back. “We don't charge annual fees or make our members jump through hoops,” said Sonya McDonald, RBFCU's senior vice president of planning and market development. “We seek to offer them value and convenience with our debit card program, rewarding their loyalty and helping them to save money and earn money at the same time.”

According to local member Janette Huerta, the cash back reward is just one of the many perks of credit union membership. “We earned about $94…ten cents really does add up,” Huerta said. “We use our check card because it is convenient and we hardly carry cash on us.”

The credit union's reward program has grown each year since its inception in 2007. Including this year's rewards, the credit union has returned more than $29 million to members through the cash back reward program.
