RBFCU’s Youth Ambassador Program Awards $9,750 in Scholarships to San Antonio-Area Students

LIVE OAK, Texas (July 8, 2022) – More than a dozen local high school students received a jump-start into their savings journey after successfully completing RBFCU’s 2022 Youth Ambassador Program.

After attending the weeklong program, 13 students will each receive $750 from RBFCU. For more than 10 years, RBFCU’s Youth Ambassador Program has provided students ages 16-18 with the opportunity to learn personal financial information, participate in community service and earn educational scholarships. The program is led by RBFCU Financial Literacy Specialists Jennifer Crawford and Michelle Herrera.

“Teaching students the importance of financial literacy and giving them a foundation to start building healthy financial habits is essential to RBFCU’s mission,” RBFCU Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff Mary O’Rourke said. “Rewarding their hard work and enthusiasm to learn with a scholarship is our honor. We know these well-informed students will make the most of their award.”

This year’s RBFCU Youth Ambassadors and scholarship recipients are:

  • Alexis Lange, Homeschool
  • ArcAngel Lopez, Communications Arts High School
  • Carla Rodriguez, La Vernia High School

In addition to their highly-successful Youth Ambassadors Program, Crawford and Herrera dedicate their time to conducting workshops and spreading awareness of financial literacy topics at schools, businesses and professional groups.
