No. Checking your score will not affect your credit. The free Credit Score Feature uses a soft inquiry, which does not impact your credit score.
-
Can I use the free Credit Score Feature to determine if I qualify for a loan?
No. RBFCU’s underwriting team uses its own set of criteria and evaluation factors when reviewing and approving loan applications. The free Credit Score Feature is intended solely to provide members with a general overview of their credit health and should not be interpreted as an indication of loan approval.
-
How does the free Credit Score Feature calculate my credit score?
The free Credit Score uses the TransUnion VantageScore® 3.0 model, which is developed by the three major credit reporting agencies: Experian®, TransUnion® and Equifax®.
-
Where can I access the free Credit Score Feature?
Eligible members can access their credit score with the Credit Score Feature through Online Banking and the RBFCU Mobile® app.
-
Is the Credit Score Feature free to use?
Yes. Credit Score Feature is available at no cost to all members who are 18 years of age or older.
The credit score displayed in this feature is based on the TransUnion VantageScore® 3.0 model, developed collaboratively by the three major credit reporting agencies: Experian®, TransUnion®, and Equifax®. This model generates scores ranging from 300 to 850, with higher scores generally indicating lower credit risk to lenders.
Please keep in mind:
- Educational use only: This credit score is provided for informational purposes and should not be used to make credit or lending decisions. The Credit Score Widget uses a soft inquiry and doesn’t affect your credit score.
- Not all lenders use the VantageScore® 3.0 credit scoring model. Some may rely on other models, such as FICO®, which could result in a score that differs from what you see here.
- Your score is based on your credit file at the time it is requested. Because lenders may report to different credit bureaus, your credit file—and therefore your score—can vary across agencies.
- Different scoring models assess risk differently. While your VantageScore® 3.0 may suggest one level of creditworthiness, another model might interpret your credit file differently, potentially impacting loan terms or approval decisions.
- This is not a FICO® score and may not match the score used by your lender. However, it can be a helpful tool to monitor your credit health and understand general trends in your credit profile.
