‘Fill the Truck’ is a Success for the Community with RBFCU as a Partner

LIVE OAK, Texas (Nov. 12, 2025) — RBFCU’s support of the community showed in more than one way during a “Fill the Truck” event that was aired this week on KSAT Community. We Go Beyond Banking at RBFCU, and we showed it with a $25,000 donation to the San Antonio Food Bank.

RBFCU’s support of the community showed during a “Fill the Truck” event with a $25,000 donation to the San Antonio Food Bank.

In addition to this donation, RBFCU extended support beyond San Antonio, providing a $25,000 gift to each of the food banks in Corpus Christi, Austin and Dallas.

SA Food Bank CEO Eric Cooper illustrated the importance of the $25,000 donation: “When you think about $25,000, that turns into about 250,000 pounds of food. That truck over there (a mid-sized freight truck); there would be about 12 of those. So, it goes a long way for helping us set the table for families in need.”

Additionally, RBFCU volunteers partnered with volunteers from Meals On Wheels, University Health and USAA to collect thousands of pounds of donated food items.

Our work with this “Fill the Truck” partnership generated 16,000 pounds of food — enough to feed more than 13,000 people. Also, 510 pounds of pet food valued at $1,183.13 was collected. Since Meals on Wheels delivers about 5,000 pounds monthly to nearly 1,000 pets, this contribution will help feed more than 100 pets.

Members of our Executive Team represented RBFCU as part of the presentation. From the SA Food Bank: “A heartfelt thank you to the unstoppable volunteers from TEAM UNIVERSITY HEALTH and TEAM RBFCU. Your energy and dedication from dawn to dusk were inspiring and essential to this success.”

Officials with the Food Bank reminded us that the need in our community is clear. At this “Fill the Truck” event, some neighbors arrived as early as 5 a.m., hoping for food distribution. While the event focused on collection, the San Antonio Food Bank stepped up immediately to register those individuals for food assistance.
