RBFCU’s Flood Relief Donation Impresses Billy Bob Thornton to Donate!
LIVE OAK, Texas (Sept. 25, 2025) — RBFCU’s commitment to helping our community shows how we Go Beyond Banking at RBFCU — and how we go beyond our initial commitments because we see the need! RBFCU continues to help the areas of Texas that experienced severe flooding during the July 4 holiday, and our credit union has matched a $10,000 donation by the United Way of Comal County to the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department.

RBFCU EVP/Chief Operating Officer Sonya McDonald announced our extended donation at the United Way of Comal County’s 2025 Speaker Series this week at Gruene Hall. Actor Billy Bob Thornton (think of the movies “Sling Blade” and “Bad Santa”) was a featured speaker, and he joined Sonya on stage to say he and his band, The Boxmasters, would also match with $10,000!
We do the right thing, and our work inspires many — RBFCU donated $100,000 to the flood relief shortly after areas near our Kerrville Branch were hit with the tragedy, in addition to providing needed items at our headquarters and at the branch.
