RBFCU’s O’Connor recognized as top CEO by San Antonio Business Journal

LIVE OAK, Texas (Sept. 21, 2018) — Christopher W. O’Connor, President and Chief Executive Officer at Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, has been named as an honoree of the C Suite Award from the San Antonio Business Journal.

Mr. O’Connor, who has held the roles of both President and CEO of RBFCU since 2013, was honored with eight other San Antonio-area CEOs. One of those is J. Kuper, principal with the RBFCU exclusive real-estate brokerage partner Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty. There were six other individuals named as C Suite Award winners as non-CEOs.

Mr. O’Connor’s recognition comes after another strong year of business growth for the credit union. In May 2018, RBFCU announced that it surpassed $7 billion in total loans, and earlier in the year, credit union members received a record $16 million in cash-back rewards through debit and credit card transactions. Mr. O’Connor also has advocated for a 25-percent jump in starting pay for a significant portion of the RBFCU staff.

“The business results recorded by RBFCU since Chris has become President and CEO are enviable, but most remarkably, Chris has instituted a top-level culture at the credit union,” said Sandra A. Reeh, chair of the RBFCU board of directors. “One of RBFCU’s core values is to serve our members with integrity, and Chris has done this throughout his career.

“His leadership has served as an example for an employee base that is nearing 2,000 staff members and has reached markets through San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and soon Corpus Christi.”

Mr. O’Connor will reach 30 years of service to RBFCU in February 2019. He has served as Director of Internal Audit, Vice President of Mortgage Lending and Member Services, and Senior Vice President of Consumer Lending and Member Services. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, an Advisory Trustee and Past Chairman of the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He also was named winner of CEO of the Year in 2016 by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.
