LIVE OAK, Texas (April 2, 2024) — The RBFCU Financial Literacy Team of Jennifer Crawford and Michelle Herrera has completed an outstanding program that benefitted 4th grade students in Comal ISD. This is award-winning community outreach — RBFCU is the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s pick as first-place in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award, and in April will be considered for America’s Credit Unions (CUNA) national recognition for work Jennifer and Michelle did with Comal in 2023!

RBFCU Financial Literacy started the Comal ISD 4th Grade Personal Finance Presentations and Entrepreneur Expo in October 2023. Our team provided personal finance lessons on spending, saving, sharing and entrepreneurship.

This involved 83 presentations and that reached 1,931 students across 20 elementary school campuses. What an effort!

With the lessons complete, it was time for the students to apply what they learned by showcasing it in the district-wide 4th Grade Entrepreneur Expo on March 26. Participating students displayed and presented their theme-based “Texas Treasures” products. Judges awarded prizes for the top three students in each of the following categories: Most Creative, Most Eco-Friendly and Presentation Skills. RBFCU sponsored the prizes for the students.
