The Advantages of Online Shopping with a Credit or Debit Card on File
A growing number of people are saving their credit and debit cards on file with online shopping sites. According to CreditCards.com, approximately 94 million Americans have their credit card on file with at least one website or mobile app for purchases and recurring bills.
Members of RBFCU do so as well, and they earn 10 cents cash back with their Freedom Debit Card and 2% cash back with the RBFCU Platinum CashBack Rewards Mastercard®.
FinancialWeb lists three main advantages to consider when storing a credit or debit card on file:
- Save time — Instead of typing in your card number and personal information each time you make an online purchase, storing your card on file offers online consumers a way to make purchases or pay bills with a simple click (or tap for mobile devices) that completes the transaction.
- Make life easier with automated payments — It’s a nice feeling to know that your smartphone bill was paid this month without having to lift a finger. Many people choose to store their card on file to automate monthly bill payments.
- Save money — Why buy stamps and envelopes to mail your payments when you can simply save your card information online and pay utilities and other bills that come due at different times during the month?
Always keep security in mind while shopping online with a credit or debit card on file. Use safeguards that you normally would employ while connecting to the internet or WiFi networks. RBFCU members often use their card on file with major online merchants such as Amazon, HSN, iTunes, Groupon and Uber.
