VERTIFI SOFTWARE AND RANDOLPH-BROOKS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION COLLABORATE ON IPAD® APP
FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND APP TAKES ADVANTAGE OF IPAD 2 CAMERA
LIVE OAK, Texas – Vertifi Software, LLC, (Vertifi) announced that it has launched a mobile banking application (app) designed specifically for Apple's massively popular iPad tablet computer. The first credit union to deploy the app is $4.3 billion Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) of Live Oak, Texas. Features include access to account balances and transaction history, transfers and loan payment capabilities, access to archived check images, a secure messaging system, branch/ATM locator, access to loan and deposit rates, advanced promotional capabilities to deliver targeted messaging to members, and an optimized layout to take full advantage of the iPad's 9.7" display (see promotional video).
The app is also special for its first-of-kind use of the camera in the newly-released iPad 2 for enabling mobile remote check deposits. The application makes use of the device's built-in camera to acquire check images, and image pre-processing and validation takes place on-device for enhanced performance. Checks are processed electronically end-to-end through Vertifi, and deposits are posted to members' accounts in real time with immediate access to check images.
With this deployment, RBFCU now has downloadable apps that support the iPhone®, iPod touch®, iPad®, and Android™ devices. Mary O'Rourke, vice president of electronic services at RBFCU, is impressed with how quickly Vertifi's team of developers created the iPad app. "We are in a very competitive market, and it is important that we stay ahead of the curve. We are proud to be the first financial institution to release an app with advanced capabilities specifically developed for the iPad 2." She went on to say, "RBFCU relies on advanced technology to service thousands of members around the globe. Our membership comprises many military men and women, and it is crucial that they have access to their accounts, regardless of where they are stationed or what mobile device they own."
Alan Bernstein, president of Vertifi, says that, "RBFCU is a recognized leader in providing remote service options to its members. The credit union's remote deposit capture program is one of the most successful in the financial services industry, with tens of thousands of active users depositing checks from their desktop scanners, smartphones-and now their iPads."
