RBFCU Creates Remy Walton Scholarship

(Live Oak, Texas) - At the Alamo Colleges Board meeting September 15, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) presented a check for $9,000 to the Alamo Colleges to establish the Remedios "Remy" T. Walton Textbook Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to spouses of wounded service members who are attached to the Warrior Transition Battalion at Ft. Sam Houston and will pay for textbooks they will use while attending one of the Alamo Colleges.

Remy was a long-time employee of RBFCU and a lifelong advocate of education, In addition, she had a special connection with the military because of her husband, Roger's, many years of service in the United States Air Force.

Roger Walton and children Raschael, Rashaad and Raven attended the check presentation ceremony at Alamo Colleges' September board meeting. Randy Smith, president and CEO of RBFCU, presented the $9,000 check to Alamo Colleges Board Chairman Denver McClendon, Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Bruce H. Leslie and Jackie Van De Walle, chair of the Alamo Community College District Foundation, Inc.

"The Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union continues to be a valued partner of the Alamo Colleges in serving our community," said Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Bruce H. Leslie. "We share their interest in supporting our military families and are pleased that they have chosen to make this generous donation in support of the spouses of wounded warriors recovering in San Antonio," he added.

The first Walton scholarship will be awarded this fall. RBFCU is proud to provide this scholarship in Remy's honor because it will serve as a lasting legacy to her values and the work she did in helping others to improve their quality of life.
