LOCAL CREDIT UNION CELEBRATES SIXTY YEARS OF SERVICE

LIVE OAK, Texas — Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union is celebrating service to members across South Central Texas and around the world for 60 years.

Founded in 1952 on Randolph Air Force Base, the credit union's humble beginnings bear little resemblance to its current stature. RBFCU was founded by nine individuals who pooled together $45, starting an institution that would protect military service members and their families from unscrupulous lenders. Sixty years later, the credit union has expanded to serve more than 400,000 people worldwide but still focuses on protecting and serving members.

And, while RBFCU has grown, the credit union remains safe and secure, ranking among the best institutions nationally. While many factors contribute to the credit union's success, the institution's leaders point to a desire to serve as one of the key determiners of RBFCU's achievements. "Our success comes down to service with integrity," said Christopher O'Connor, President. "From our volunteer Board of Directors who give their time and expertise to provide leadership for our institution, to the employees who help members save time, save money and earn money each day, our credit union succeeds because we are focused on providing members the best in value, security and service on a daily basis."

RBFCU's anniversary milestone is just one of many celebrated this year. In 2012, the credit union has surpassed more than 400,000 members and has also grown its total loans and assets. The branch network has expanded to more than 40 locations around two major metropolitan areas – Austin and San Antonio. "Continuing strong growth proves to us that we're doing things the right way," O'Connor said. "Our members receive great value from their RBFCU products and services, then share that value with others."
