Retailer Security Breach – What You Should Know

Due to a recent security breach of a major U.S. retailer, RBFCU is putting additional precautions in place to protect you and your assets. RBFCU's card networks are safe and secure; the fraudulent transactions are linked to this specific merchant.

We have taken steps to identify accounts that may have been compromised, and have found a very small percentage of cards may have been affected. However, because we are concerned about any issues that may impact our members' well-being and peace of mind, we are closely monitoring our cards. If we do see fraud, we will communicate with our members and place additional protective measures on their accounts.

In addition to the Target breach itself, it's been reported that phishing emails are being sent out that appear to be from Target. These emails may mention that your card has been compromised. Please proceed with caution if you receive any communication, such as emails or phone calls, that seem to be coming from Target. As with any email from someone you do not know, or that looks suspicious, do not open any links that may be included. Opening a link could potentially allow additional access to your personal information. If you believe you may have shared personal/RBFCU account information with the scammer, please report the incident, so we may take action to protect your account from fraudulent access.

You are the first line of defense in protecting your identity. If you see suspicious activity on your account, please contact us.
